Udupi: Manu Shetty selected as ‘Specially Invited Youth Icon’ for national dialogue in Delhi

 Manu Shetty, a resident of Inna village in Karkala taluk, has been selected as a ‘Specially Invited Youth Icon’ from Karnataka to participate in the two-days ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue’ organized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi on January 11 and 12.

Manu is the daughter of entrepreneur Uday Shetty and former zilla panchayat member Reshma Uday Shetty. She is currently a first-year BA student at MGM College, Udupi, and an active member of the student organization ABVP and the international organization JCI Padubidri.

The two-day national convention aims to ensure the participation of youth in building a developed India. The event will bring together 3,000 young talents from across the country.

The agenda includes discussions, presentations, and dialogues on various sectors contributing to India’s development. Invited participants will have the opportunity to present their ideas. Additionally, there will be exhibitions by various government departments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with union ministers, officials, and nationally and internationally recognized experts, will engage in discussions during the event.

Udupi: Sharina Alisha Mathias crowned Miss South India 2024

Sharina Alisha Mathias, a 20-year-old from Perampalli, Udupi, has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the prestigious Miss South India 2024 title.

The event, hosted by CLM Modeling Agency, took place at Poornima Regency in Bengaluru on December 29, 2024. Sharina emerged victorious among 13 contestants, impressing the judges with her poise, confidence, and charismatic personality.

Sharina, the daughter of Sunil and Anitha Mathias, is a final-year student at Poornaprajna College, Udupi. Her journey to the crown includes notable achievements, such as being crowned Miss Tulunad 2023 2nd runner-up and Miss Coastalwood 2023 1st runner-up.

The event celebrated beauty, grace, and talent, with contestants from across South India competing for the coveted title. Sharina’s impressive performance secured the top spot, bringing immense pride to her hometown.

Speaking about her victory, Sharina expressed gratitude to her family, friends, and mentors for their unwavering support throughout her journey.

KARNATAKA: BUSINESS & ECONOMY: Bolas Agro Pvt Ltd. receives’Karnataka State Exports Excellence Award 2021′ for Udupi District

Bolas Agro Pvt. Ltd., Karkala, a manufacturer specialised in dry fruits and nuts, has received the Karnataka State Exports Excellence Award 2021 for Udupi district.

Directors of the company Rajat Kamath Bola and Anjani Kamath received the award at a ceremony organised by the Karnataka State Export Excellence Awards Committee at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru recently in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Vimala Lobo recently won a state title ‘Global Mrs Karnataka India International’ at a beauty pageant organised by Global India Entertainment Production.

Vimala was bestowed with the title in a grand ceremony held at Crowne Plaza, Rohini, New Delhi.

The 47-year-old is a nurse with over 16 years of experience. She is married to Maxim D’Souza and has two children Ashish and Mavina.

Speaking to daijiworld, she said, “I am a girl born in a middle-class family in a village and I had a dream of becoming a model when I was a teen. But due to family and social reasons, it remained under cover. As I heard of Mrs India international audition, I could not stop myself from participating. I grabbed the opportunity and I am happy to achieve state title, Mrs Karnataka. I thank my children, husband, and my sister who supported me in this journey. Heartfelt gratitude for conducting the audition in my city, Manipal, Allie Sharma and Giep. Thank you.”

NATIONAL: EDUCATION / AWARD WINNER: Udupi’s Schoolgirl Avantika V Rao gets to Speak in front of President

Avantika V. Rao, a Class IX student of Anandathirtha Vidyalaya, Pajaka, Udupi district bagged the prize in the Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2019-20.

Avantika V. Rao, a Class IX student of Anandathirtha Vidyalaya, Pajaka, Udupi district, who had bagged first prize in an essay competition, got a rare opportunity to speak in front of President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi recently.

She bagged the prize in the Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2019-20. The competition was to instil a sense of pride and spirit of nation building among the youth. Many students from across the country had participated in this competition and 29, including Ms. Rao, emerged as winners, according to the school.

All the winners were taken to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 17, 2023. Of them, in addition to Ms. Rao, another student Kushi Prajapathi from Nagaur, Rajasthan, got the opportunity to speak in front of the President.

During her three-minute speech, Ms. Rao stressed on ‘Clean India’ and how each person should take the responsibility to achieve it. Recycling of waste will set things in the right direction, she said.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan release on that day said that the President congratulated the winners of the essay competition. She said that during the ‘Amrit Kaal’, the topic of the essay competition ‘Five things I will do to build a great India’ was quite relevant.

Ms. Murmu expressed confidence that when India celebrates 100 years of independence, the contribution of these young minds would be for the betterment of the country as a whole. The President urged children to dream big and try hard to realise their dreams.

It said that Ms. Murmu praised the organisers for providing a platform for young minds to showcase their ideas in writing on a specific topic of national importance or on social issues.
