* District Police Sports Meet Concludes: Mysuru District Armed Reserve Police Team Bags Overall Trophy

The three-day sports meet for District Police, organised by Mysuru District Police at the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Police Parade Grounds at Jyothinagar here, concluded yesterday evening.

The District Armed Reserve Police team, which had garnered most points by winning prizes in various sports events, bagged the overall team championship trophy. While Raghunandan of DAR bagged the individual award in the men’s category, K. Ashwini of Bannur Police Station bagged the award in the women’s category.

‘Mohtisham Canopy’, the residential apartment project of Mohtisham, the most acclaimed and trusted real estate developers of the city, has been conferred with ‘Well-built Concrete Structure (multi-storey) in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts’ category for 2021.

The award will be handed over to team Mohtisham at an awards nite which will be held on January 11 at Milagres Hall.

*** Hassan: Man who found black box of crashed Navy helicopter awaiting prize from 30 years

A youth, who has reached senior citizen’s age now, who found the black box of the Navy helicopter that crashed on Western Ghats in 1991, did not receive the promised prize money.

In 1991, a Navy helicopter that was carrying very critical documents from Mangaluru to Bengaluru crashed on the plateau of Aramane Gudda on Western Ghats. Four people, including a colonel, lost their lives in the mishap. Even after frantic searching the helicopter could not be located.

Puttaswamy Gowda, a youth of 33 years, resident of Vanagoor village, continued his search in the quest of getting the prize, though all others stopped the hunt for the black box of the helicopter. After two years of continuous search he was able to locate the black box in 1992 October on the plateau of Aramane Gudda.

* Lokayukta website launched

The new website of Karnataka Lokayukta was launched on Thursday.

According to an official release, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, who inaugurated the website at the Lokayukta headquarters in the city, said the Lokayukta website has been upgraded to provide transparency in the functioning of the organisation and provide timely information to complainants, defendants, and the public.

* City MMA Fighters Excel

Fourteen Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters of the Academy of Martial Science participated in the 6th Bangalore Open MMA Championships held in Whitefield, Bengaluru, between Dec. 16 and 19.

* New Karnataka govt portal to rate citizens’ eligibility for welfare schemes

Karnataka offers about 250 welfare schemes but most of them still follow the manual process.

The platform, Suvidha, functions directly under Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is pushing the welfare plank in the election year, and is part of several e-governance initiatives being rolled out by the government.

“Suvidha is different from the Seva Sindhu, which is meant for services such as certificates or documents. Suvidha is for welfare schemes that involve a direct benefit,” he explained.

Mansi U.S. Achar, a third standard student of Christ Public School, Mysuru, has completed ‘Srimad Bhagavad Gita Recitation Exam’ held at Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Mysuru, in distinction and has secured gold medal.

Daughter of H.N. Usharani and G. Umashankar, a businessman and a resident of T.K. Layout, the 8-year-old girl has learnt 700 shlokas in 10 months. Mansi is seen receiving the certificate from Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham.

n a statement, Strides said it will “immediately launch” its generic Molnupiravir, indicated for high-risk adult patients with Covid under the brand Stripiravir.

Bengaluru pharma company Strides Pharma Science Limited said that it has received Emergency Use Authorisation from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to launch Molnupiravir, an oral medication for Covid-19 in India.

In a statement, Strides said it will “immediately launch” its generic Molnupiravir, indicated for high-risk adult patients with Covid under the brand Stripiravir. The company is commercialising the product with a group-integrated supply chain for active pharmaceutical ingredients and solid oral dosage from its large-scale WHO pre-qualified manufacturing capacities, the company stated.
