Innovation Lab Inaugrated at PDA Engineering College (Kalaburagi) in Collaboration with Danish Enterprises

H.E. Freddy Svane, Ambassador of Denmark inaugurated an innovation lab established at the college as part of a collaboration with Danish companies and institutes.

After inaugurating the innovation lab, which has been set up to facilitate and develop innovations in the fields of Internet of Things, green energy, climate change mitigation, agricultural applications and electric vehicle systems, among others, Mr. Svane stressed the need for the development of in-house skilling to face global challenges such as global warming.

Manager of Karnataka Skill Development Corporation Kavita Gouda, President of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society Bhimashankar Bilgundi, Principal of PDA College of Engineering S. S. Kalashetty, CEO and MD of Flexitron R.S. Hiremath and others were present.

* Receives Appreciation From India Book Of Records

C. Jnanika of Mysuru has been appreciated by India Book of Records for reciting reverse counting from 100-0; performing 130 hula hoop spins in one minute, 185 hula hoop spins with Hanuman Chalisa recitation in 2.34 minutes, Bharatanatyam 54 hasta mudras in 47 seconds and solving 3 seasons’ puzzles at the age of 6 years and 4 months, as confirmed on Dec. 27, 2021.

She has also placed a new record in the achievement category of Karnataka Achievers Book of Records by reciting reverse counting numbers 100-01 in 45 seconds, completing Hanuman Chalisa chanting by rotating of 36 inches hula hoop within 02 minutes 42 seconds, finishing 130 laps by rotating with the same measurement hula hoop within 01 minute and reciting freedom fighters names from A-Z in 48 seconds.

 ** AIISH Hosts 53rd National Communication Meet . Awards Presented at Event.

A two-day 53rd national conference of the Indian Speech Language and Hearing Association (ISHA), Mysuru chapter, began at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Manasagangothri campus this morning.

The event, titled ISHACON, began at the Knowledge Park of the AIISH and is being organised by the Mysuru Indian Speech Language and Hearing Association (MyISHA). More than 1,300 delegates are participating in the event that will be a venue for over 16 plenary talks, 36 oral research paper presentations and 115 poster presentations.

At the conference, three eminent personalities in the field of speech and hearing were felicitated with prestigious oration awards in recognition of their contribution to the field — Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH, received Dr. N. Rathna Oration award, Dr. U. Ajith Kumar, Professor of Audiology, received Prof. S. Kameswaran Endowment Oration award and S. Rajapandian received Prof. R.K. Oza Oration award. Dr. Kalyani Mandke, Director, Mandke Hearing Services, Pune, received the “Bharat award” in recognition of her services as the President of ISHA during 2011-12.

The Karnataka Government has released Mojini, a digital tool to allow farmers to get copies of some land survey documents, without the need to frequent government offices

The State Government has released Mojini, a digital tool to allow farmers to get copies of some land survey documents, without the need to frequent government offices.

The Mojini tool has been uploaded on the website of the Department of Revenue. It enables farmers to check the online status and take copies of several land documents.

The Department of Revenue has digitised all records of farmers and other land owners and made them searchable. The records can be searched by using the mobile number, the survey number, or the application number of the farmer or applicant. Farmers can also apply for a survey of their land and pay fees through the website.

* Student develops mini-oxygen plant in just eight months, all by himself

A 19-year-old engineering student has single-handedly invented a prototype of a mini-oxygen plant that produces up to 94.5 per cent pure oxygen and can be used in homes, hospitals as well as industries.

Called OxiPlant, the device works on the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process.

It took Tejas P Karanji, a first-year student of electronics and communication engineering at PES University, all of eight months to conceptualise, design, fabricate and develop the product.

* Kidwai Memorial Institute gets bone marrow transplant facility

Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday launched a bone marrow transplant (BMT) centre at the Bengaluru-centred Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO) to facilitate free treatment for children from economically weaker sections. He also announced plans to set up Kidwai regional centres in each district to make cancer treatment easily accessible to people across the state.

The bone marrow transplant centre has been opened to ensure that no child is deprived of such treatment in the fight against cancer, he noted.

The M Visvesvaraya railway terminal in Bengaluru is ready for commissioning as the country’s third ‘world-class’ railway station in the near future.  Earlier, the Gandhinagar capital railway station in Gujarat and the Rani Kamlapati railway station in Madhya Pradesh were redeveloped and commissioned as the country’s first and second ‘world-class’ stations of the Indian railways.

* Mindtree co-founders donate Rs 425 crore to IISc to help build an 800-bed multi-specialty hospital

This is the single largest private donation IISc has received to build the postgraduate medical school and multi-specialty hospital, officials of the Institute said.

Philanthropist couples Susmita and Subroto Bagchi and Radha and NS Parthasarathy collectively donated Rs 425 crore to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to set up a postgraduate medical school along with an 800-bed multi-speciality hospital in its Bengaluru campus.

* Ravi Kakyapadav selected for annual Mangaluru Press Club Award

Ravi Kakyapadav, who became a successful entrepreneur despite illiteracy, provided jobs to about 300 people and is helping the poor is selected for the annual Mangaluru Press Club Award being presented to the special achievers.

The selection was made by the committee of senior journalist Manohar Prasad, Indian Red Cross society, Dakshina Kannada branch executive committee member, social worker Ravindranath K and Sahyadri Engineering College professor Dr G Ananta Prabhu.

He came to Subrahmanya in 2000 and became painter and transport worker before becoming a contractor. He later started his own Anugraha construction and Amratha Anugraha Industries at Anekal and became a successful contractor. He has constructed more than 265 houses and five apartments providing jobs to about 300 people.
